My bucket list keeps me reaching for my dreams

When I was 23, I published my first book - 20 Something, checking that off my bucket list. This photo appeared in the local Palos Heights paper The Reporter at the time.

I've done a lot of exciting things in my life. I've been blessed to have done a lot of wonderful things in my life and I have a terrific wife and son.

My gym coach in high school had us make a life list of things we want to do. I remember writing that I wanted to see the Grand Canyon and write a book. I've done both of those things and am now a self-published author. But I'm only 33, so there is still much life to be lived. Will I be disappointed if I don't finish this list? No. But it would be nice to accomplish some of the things on here.

Some of these points is easier to complete than others, but writing them down makes the goals real. It gives me something to reach for. If you've ever seen the movie The Bucket List, it really puts things in perspective. It's true that what's most important to me in my life is being a good Christian, a good husband, father, friend and son. When it comes down to it, what's really important in life is those around you. But having things that you want to do and completing them gives you a sense of fulfillment, of accomplishment. I encourage you to do the same and reach for your dreams. Below is my list (so far).
